Dr. Sameer Kushwaha is a cardiologist practicing at Michael Garron Hospital and Unify Health, both in East York, Toronto. His inpatient cardiology work is based at Michael Garron Hospital, while his outpatient practice is at Unify Health, where he also serves as Medical Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory. His clinical work spans the full range of cardiovascular medicine — from managing common conditions like high blood pressure and cholesterol to advanced cardiac imaging and intensive cardiac care.
He completed his undergraduate degree at McGill University, followed by his MD and residency training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Toronto. He then pursued a Fellowship in Advanced Echocardiography at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto and holds board certification in Nuclear Cardiology. During his fellowship, he also completed a certificate in Global Health at the University of Toronto — a reflection of a longstanding interest in how cardiovascular disease affects people differently depending on where they live and what resources they have access to.
That interest in equity shapes how Dr. Kushwaha approaches both his clinical practice and his research. Much of his academic work focuses on improving access to high-quality cardiac care in underserved populations, and his findings have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.
This website grew out of a belief that patients and clinicians alike benefit from clear, reliable information. The patient education resources here are written to help you understand your diagnosis, your tests, and what questions to ask — not to replace a conversation with your doctor, but to make that conversation more productive.
